Yes I used to always do that. Like fix the blender in the kitchen when it stopped working, fix the ceiling fan, etc.

Sometimes it used to be the other way around as well, like breaking open fixed things 😀

My parents were school teachers, they were not great at fixing things but I really liked helped them when they were and it made me feel very proud. As such, I was used to be in charge of the maintenance all the things in the house that switch on, from computers to VCR and TV. I also like (still now) quietly observing people fixing thing, whether is a bicycle, a pipe or a colleague hardware engineer. This helps me understand how things work and how to fix them myself (in theory). I think this interest maybe attracted towards engineering in the end

I am usually the go-to person for my mom and stepdad when they have computer or mobile phone problems. They like that I am patient and don’t mock them (my brothers sometimes do).
When I was a kid, I helped my grandfather building and fixing things in the garden and I always loved to just figure out how thinks worked myself. I still do actually 😉
