My favourite part of the job is the process of making a new thing and feeling of achievement of seeing it used in real life once ready and listening to the feedback (good or bad) of non-technical users.

The satisfaction of seeing a long discussed software element used by a customer, which might comment that the outlook of it (i.e. the colour of the buttons) is very pretty is as large as the amount of work I put into it: thinking how all the software parts have to cooperate, playing with the electronics or crafting my own (physical) push buttons for testing. Sometimes you have the bonus of listening to all sort of superstitious theories such as “if you press this button everything will explode!” while nothing will really happen. This is a sort of bad feedback, if the customer should has such drastic thoughts maybe the program looks scary, but it is still fun to hear

      Hi

What I love most about my job is that I can do a lot of things that I like: I am creative and I can write blogs for the company. I am technical and logical and I can use this when writing the technical documents for our developers. I love to learn new things and I can learn to code and attend conferences. I love to teach and even that I can do in my job by teaching the developers about the finance industry.

Hi Mollie, thanks for the question. There is no one thing that I can is the best part. My job is about thinking and generating ideas and putting the technical building blocks together that can build a search engine for internal use in Airbus research. So when someone says to me, “well your search engines understands me so well and finds me what I want”, it’s a moment of satisfaction for me. Such moments are the best part of my job.

I have a team of 20 people who believe in my ideas and work on implementing them to create applications such as the search engine. It’s brilliant and very satisfying to know so many people trust my know-how and invest their time and energy. The discussions and brainstorming sessions we have are all real very informative. That’s nice as well.

So there are many good things in my job which make it a great job.

My favourite part is create something new and useful with brand new technologies. For me this is a creative process, almost like art, like a musician making some music, or a painter making a painting. When you create something and you hit that button and you shout out “IT WORKS” and then you use it to help people make their lives easier, this is very rewarding to me. I also get to have a sneak peak into the future and the cool gadgets and technologies that are not in our homes just yet. I get to look “behind the scenes” so to speak, and understand how things work. I’m the kind of person who dies to know how magicians do their tricks!

Variety is key for me. I love the evolution of a project as it progresses. I like learning new skills, discovering new software to help me or getting to try out new hardware. I recently tried an EEG device which reads the brain waves from your head! We are thinking of using this for a way to interface with robots and computers.
